KNIGHT QUESTOR

ok so ive been a little quite recently....blame warhammer quest silver tower for that one.
just a quick little blog post here. whilst this game, its theme and all of its fluff are very different to the grimy old world i know and love. me and my family are really enjoying this one.

the bad guys will no doubt get a run around in AHQ at some point. but for now im absorbing the game and its depths to see if it deserves a slot on my shelf...so far its not doing bad. ill do a full on review of this later on. i dont feel ive covered every nook and cranny just yet to be able to give a really valid user perspective review

anyways i was testing out how i was going to do my bases. and of course i had to paint up a figure too.
so here he is.....gold bloke!
i wanted to fo the heroes in a thematic base style so to really fit into the game.. yes i could of gone transparent base wise. but i made my choice and sculpted a base.

  1. That base is fantastic.

I think you will thank yourself later when your figures look good on the shelf - I've found that is the major negative to the clear bases, unless you leave them on a tile on the shelf it doesn't look good.

Very interested to hear your thoughts. I picked up the game to convert a BB team out of the tzeentch guys but wouldn't have a problem drafting them in. Hearing similar things that the game is cinematic and fun.

    1. thanks yeh the base turned out really well considering it was more of an experiment. only problem being is that it isnt a quick thing to do like this. having to sculpt each piece as well as all of those little stones that make up the floor. which is why ill only take this method for the heroes. and try something a little more 'production' based for the bad guys. that way they can also be drafted into any game and not have bases that look out of whack.

its a good game. but still dont feel ive got enough of a grasp on it to give my most sincere posting on just yet....it will come soon though :)

    2. Have you seen the stuff from Basius? Where they have this large press mold that you can use over and over with bits of greenstuff on your bases? Check them out - I think their 3rd kickstarter is running now.

    3. yeh i actually did a spotlight post on basius when they ran their first kickstarter. the sculpting did take too long but ive just done a trial run of a few bases by sculpting the the gold parts then using cracked earth. was quick and easy to do. ill throw a little tutorial up at some point. i just need to get a few more painted up first

  2. The base is fantastic indeed! I think it was the right decission to go for a sculpted instead of a clear base.
Ok, after reading what you wrote regarding the actual game I might give the rules a read at least :D

    1. have you not played it? whilst i know you are a WHQ die hard. i think its worth giving silver tower a run out. weigh up what changed etc. imk sure there will be thing you like as well as dislike. ive never found a perfect dungeon crawler yet. i prefer AHQ but i know its far from perfect. with that said. silver tower is the only co-op crawler i own. so for that reason it has a place on the table as it brings something new.

  3. Nope, not played the game yet. I really bought it only to use the bad guys for regular WHQ. I have the weird routine to play with painted models only. This way I can keep up with the motivation to paint all the required stuff. Therefore I would be forced to paint the regular ST heroes which I am not so very fond of (not counting the Darkoath Chieftain who rocks and maybe the Excelsior Warpriest) if I wanted to try the game.
Now two days later I can confirm that I risked a look at the actual rules. There are some nifty details indeed which I appreciated. But they inspired me more to steal some of them for my Event Cards for old school WHQ to be honest :D

    1. lol well share and share alike right? having not been one that got whipped into the original i cant really say too much.but figured many would borrow elements back and forth to expand their games. the original compells me due to the randomness of the game. silver tower would need a lot of changes in order to gain that same feel i think. and also i used to be a sucker for having to paint models first. but problem was i never played any games lol. i look forward to seeing what else you paint up next.
